Pipelines
For smooth operation, a snowmaking system needs water which is pumped to hydrants through pipelines. We install two types of pipelines in our systems:
- Alvenius Snowline steel pipelines;
- ductile cast iron Ductus pipelines.
Alvenius Snowline
Alvenius Snowline steel pipes have been designed specifically for artificial snowmaking. They are divided into sections with a length of 5.8 metres. Fittings are screwed together using Victaulic couplings.
Each piece undergoes hydrostatic tests under pressure exceeding the operating pressure by 50%. Pipes are protected on the inside and outside by means of thermal barrier coating carried out in Alvenius‘ factories.
A great advantage of the system is small weight of its components. A pipe with a length of 5.8 m and a diameter of 139 mm weighs only 54 kg.
Ductus
Thanks to the use of magnesium in the melting process, cast iron retains its durability and gains flexibility. This perfect combination of elasticity and resistance makes ductile cast iron an excellent material to build pressure pipelines. Its characteristics are unique: flexibility comparable to that of steel, high bending/tensile strength, exceptional robustness and durability.
